What I took away

Hacktoberfest at Amadeus Labs started before the typing did, with talks about DigitalOcean's Gradient AI and about Dodo Payments taking its code open source. Then the clock started on a three-hour mini hackathon, and the room settled into that focused hum you only get near a deadline.

My teammate Disha and I built Commune Connect, a space where people in a locality can flag a roadblock, ask for help, or keep neighbors posted. Underneath it we wired an AI assistant that could step in during an emergency, a small subscription layer, and the whole dashboard and admin side, all on Next.js with Supabase handling auth.

Three hours is not long, but it was enough to remind me how much momentum two people who trust each other can hold. We released it on GitHub with a landing page to match, and it still feels like one of the cleanest little builds I have been part of.
