CodeDay Summer 2023
A 24-hour hackathon under the theme 'Astronaut's Toolkit', where my team won with an interactive fitness web app for astronauts built with OpenCV and MediaPipe.
CodeDay was my first chance to test myself inside a real 24-hour build window. When the theme turned out to be 'Astronaut's Toolkit', we knew we wanted something that moved: an interactive fitness app an astronaut could actually use, one that tracked exercises and helped correct form as they went.
We leaned on OpenCV and MediaPipe to detect movement, added a live wireframe overlay to show posture, and wrapped it all in space-themed workouts with a scoring system. The deadline forced every decision, and having to keep the whole thing coherent taught me more about how I work under pressure than any course ever did.
It took a moment to sink in when the judges picked our project. Winning mattered, but what I carried home was subtler: I had learned that a small team, a clear idea, and a hard deadline can produce something that feels genuinely real.
